I have participated in the ARRL 10 meter contest and this is actually the first time that I have been able to use the winlog 32 program. I am just stumped however on how to make it check for dupes. I know it takes making a sql plugin but nothing makes any sense. Why not a toolbar button to do what needs to be done all the time anyway especially during a contest? I have ver 1.9 Ben k8ar

Hi

Winlog32 was never intended for any serious contest work, there is no points tally or any of the specialist requirements that contest software will provide. Most guys use such specialist software for Contests and then importing their Contest QSO's into the main Log via ADIF later.

Winlog32 does list all previous contacts with a callsign upon callsign entry, this finds all previous QSO's not just with in a particular contest or date though, making a seperate Log for an individual contest overcomes this, exporting/importing via ADIF to the main Log later.

Post contest checking of dupes could be done with a SQL plug-in, I can't tell you how out of the top of my head but I could probably provide you with a suitable plug-in if you really need to do this.

In summary - if you want to enter contests then you need 'Contest' software which can entirely handle your entry, Winlog32's contest option is only intended for the 'casual' contest QSO's that many non-contesters make.

Hi ?
Colin is 100% correct in recommending you use contest software for contesting (however casual) and use Winlog for your DX log. Winlog is brilliant at this, the contest loggers are brilliant at what they do. If you want to try an excellent Windows based contest logger (freeware), try www.n1mm.com
