wl32 doesn't start up

Post by pa0mjm »

Hi to all,

I encountered a problem: my wl32 doesn't start any more.
error:
runtime 3049, can't open database". It may not be a database your application recognizes, or the file is corrupt.

This is after clean install and cleaning the register of W7 on wl32 keys.

History:
Windows restarted my machine unattended for updates while WL32 was running. wl32 came up with error: 05 or something like that. (don't ask my opinion on Windows now)

Replaced wl32.ini and log-file form back-up location. Same error. I removed wl32 and re-installed it. since then the error as mentioned above appears, even when I made a clean install after with cleansed register. No back ups in place and still this error!

so pse: HELP!

Update:
WL32 is running now again, but has still a problem.

Error at startup: error: 0: / 5
what means ?????
(this happend also after W7 update)

wl32.ini replaced with backup-file.
Log file also. Error as above.
WL32 starts up, but wants me to make a new log or add existing.
Adding existing generates error 3049, .... no recognition of database or corrupt file.

I'm out of possibilities...

wl32 doesn't start up

Hi Martin,
I think I had a similar problem time ago but on XP. It happened after I loaded newer version on WL. I guess it helped me to remove all logs from a database but let the one elemental only and since that time it works well.

Hi Martin

Sorry to hear of the problem.

I need to know what Winlog32 version is being used?

Where is Winlog32 installed (not /program files/)?

But first try this to see if the log is OK...

Close Winlog32

delete file winlog.ini

Restart Winlog32

You will have to select and load your log, your user settings will be missing, but this will show if it is a problem in your ini file.

Oh, and registry cleaners are very bad news for windows.

Thanks both for you input.
I will look next Sunday to your tips.

Oh, oh! Can't even install a clean, brand new WL32.[:0]

I removed wl32
I removed the wl32 folder
I cleansed the register with CC-cleaner and a manual check via regedit.
Deleted the used wl32v6105.exe and downloaded a fresh copy.
Rebooted my laptop.
Installed the fresh copy in the new created folder Programs(D:)\Zendamateur\wl32
Not any old file used: no old wl32.ini , no old log-file. Just a fresh new installed program.
Result: runtime error 3049. Screenshot available.
When the error is clicked OK wl32 disappears.

I'm completely lost...[xx(]
