LoTW Upload Trouble

Post by w0pwe »

After switching computers I recently installed Winlog32 V6.1.7 and TQSL V2.03. I can export and sign but when I try to upload to LoTW using the manual method I get the error:
Error: File NOT uploaded The system cannot locate the resource specified.
Possible LoTW offline.

And when I use the automatic method I see the following error:
TQSL: Command syntax error
A manual .tq8 upload may be required

If I use the super manual method however (open TQSL and click on the sign and upload button, select file, allow duplicates etc etc) then it WILL upload to LoTW. From LoTW Manager I can Export and Sign, and I can log into LoTW just fine. From searching the forum it seems that "station location" could be an issue but I have exactly the same callsign in both TQSL and WL32. I even re-typed it to make sure I didn't have the 0 vs O problem.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

First check settings in LoTW Manager (Menu/File/LoTW Manager)

These should look exactly like following links: (and I mean it does include the "xxxx" and "zzzz" part of the strings (do not substitute))

Log-on:
"https://lotw.arrl.org/lotwuser/default? ... sword=zzzz"

Download:
"https://lotw.arrl.org/lotwuser/lotwrepo ... sword=zzzz"

Upload:
"https://lotw.arrl.org/lotwuser/upload?l ... sword=zzzz"

The following is copied from another unrelated post, but may be causing a similar problem, and worth checking out:

"An update on this problem now that it is solved! The basic problem was that Internet Explorer would not open some secure sites, notably Clublog. In IE8, tools>internet options>advanced tab, TLS 1.0 had become unchecked. With TLS checked, IE8 would now open Clublog's secure site, and Winlog32 could do the auto upload."

Thank you Colin! Checking TLS1.0 solved the problem. I never use Internet Explorer and didn't know it had anything to do with the operation of Winlog32. Everything works perfectly now.

Thanks for the feedback Jerry

Winlog32 does share the use of msxml2.dll, which is supplied with IE, this .dll is installed with all modern MS op. systems for IE and can be shared by other programs.
It does seem that some security settings in IE affect the use of this library when used with https (secure sites), this is something only recently discovered, but good info for anyone experiencing a similar problem.

I'll be looking into ways that may avoid this problem in the future.
