QSO Start-time.

Post by sm7tkr »

First of all I would like to say that I think Winlog32 is a grate logging
software but there is however one small thing that has bin a little bit
annoying to me for a long time.

When I listen to a station that I would like to work then normaly the
first thing I do is to write the stations callsign down in the
"Callsign" entry field.
The thing I don't like is that at the same time the "Date" and "STime"
is entered automatically.
If it is an instant QSO then this is not a problem but if the station
that you want to work is already working another station and you have
to wait then the start-time wont match if we QSL.
The same goes for a "pile-up" when you try to work a rare DX-station.
It can take a while before you get through.
I think it would be better if the "Date" and "STime"
fields where filled in when you either press "Enter" or leave the "Callsign"
input field after typing the callsign, or perhaps it could be an option.
What do you think about this, Winlog users

QSO Start-time.

Post by G0CUZ »

hi

I understand your concerns about the auto-insert Date/Time behaviour, but in most (all?) circumstances this can be corrected by using the F12 'Update QSO Time' option.

Although your suggestion sounds OK, it still would cause logging errors, what if you enter a callsign and forget to move from the Callsign field (distracted, rag chewing?), what if you use the mouse to check something else in the Log or on other software, or other similar circumstance.
Perhaps you were not aware of the F12 option, although this requires a couple of key presses, I still think it is the best option taking all into account.

I will gladly listen to any other opinions on this subject.

Thank you for your reply.
I was not aware of the F12 and I am very happy that there was
a fast way to update the date and time.

Thank you.
