Hi Winloggers

Many moons ago ....I had a computer log programme that allowed
me to store a photo of the station worked or a copy of their qsl card
so that when you look up a qrz in your log you could click a button to view
the photo or qsl card ..... I found this most interesting when looking
back at older contacts..I wonder if this feature would be possible to
implement in a future build of Winlog

Hi Pete

There is a feature in WInlog32 called 'infolink', with a QSO selected or entered click on the word 'Remarks' left of Remarks Field on the log Input.

You can use the URL link, which could point to a picture file, depending on what your Windows settings allow the file to be opened with - could this give the desired result?

This is not strictly the purpose of this entry, ...it was originally for pointing to a web site.

Each independent callsign in the Log can have an 'infolink'

maybe I can expand and improve on this if there is interest?

Hi Colin

Thanks for the reply ........ I will have a play next week
when I`m on a weeks holiday and see if I can get it to work

Going back to the other log programme ........ all it had was
a folder called pictures that you just added a picture or qsl card .....
but the picture or qsl card had to be named the same as the call
sign with the 3 letter extension ie M1SOM.bmp would have been better
for smaller files if they could have been .jpg .......

Another thing I have discovered on winlog32 ...... if I enter a
call sign like M0??? or G0??? it comes up as England ok .....
but if I enter the callsign as MØ??? or GØ??? it does`nt recognise
the Ø as a valid number for a country ... I wonder if this could be
implemented in a future version ..... to get the Ø I hold down the
alt button and type 0216 ......

Hello again Pete.

Regarding the Alt/0126 - yeh but not sure why you would want to do it....this ASCII character is different from a zero character so any searches performed by SQL will not respond, there are too many complications with display and searches to use it.

It is an option when printing Labels/QSL's to print the Callsigns with a 'Ø' instead of a '0'.

I have made a few changes to 'infolink' window, you can select and add your picture file to the URL field, and using the GO button will load the picture into Winlog32 providing the file has an extension .JPG or .GIF otherwise the URL will load your browser with specified link as before.
I have also added 'infolink' to menu/file as well.

Hi Coln

Re pictures / qsl cards in winlog ...... I have
made a folder called "winlog photos" on my C drive
and put C:\WINLOG PHOTOS in the url .... now
when I press GO it takes me to the folder with
all the jpg files .....then I have to look down the
list of files and pick the one I want to view ... then
double click it for it to display in my picture viewer
which is currently ACDsee.... if I name each picture or
qsl card as the relevent callsign is there anyway
I could select the picture from an icon maybe between
the map button and the utc time clock .....
this other programme had an icon of a camera that would
show itself if a picture was linked to the call sign
then all you had to do was click the camera and the
picture or qsl card would display itself in a box over
the top like the map displays when you press the map icon
except the display could be a little larger and in landscape
I have just looked down the main folder " winlog32" and seeing
the sub folders underneath makes me wonder if you could set up
one called photos ...... :-))
sorry if I am creating more work for you .... but if you dont ask
you dont get hi

Hi Pete

Well if you enter the file path AND NAME into the URL ...
e.g. "C:\WINLOG PHOTOS\M1SOM.JPG" it will have the desired effect? instead of pointing to a folder for you to selcted the file name - it will load the actual picture file for the Callsign which has been linked using the Infolink window option.

I have now made an improvement on this in that the picture is now loaded into Winlog32's own viewer rather than to and external viewer which would happen at the moment.
