Commander for CAT control ?

Discuss with others what you would like to see in later versions of Winlog32.

Commander for CAT control ?

Post by IT9PQJ »

Is there a chance to see "Winlog32" working with "Commander" for CAT control instead of its own built in feature ?
As far as I've realized, with "Commander" you can run multiple softwares at the same time using the same COM port.
It's very useful when controlling both digital modes softwares and Winlog32 at the same time in order to make the radio QSY to a spotted frequency by using Winlog32 without disconnecting digi modes program's CAT from working and/or viceversa.

Hi Nico

If you can find any documentation regarding the Commander interface, I'll have a look, but am not familiar with it.

Hi Colin,

for example I can run both "WSJT-X" and "JT65-HF HB9HQX" at the same time by using Commander as a CAT software for these digital modes programs.
By the way, I've sent you an e-mail.

Hi Nico

Thanks, but didn't receive any email?

I did check out the Commander protocol, but don't think it would be an easy job to integrate into my existing framework.

I have been working on a logging interface for WSJT-X & JT-Alert (possibly JT-HF), this will enable getting frequency and auto logging from those software which will help a little.

Hi Colin,
thanks for your reply.
OK all understood. In any case, it would be great to run Winlog32, MultiPSK, WSJT-x and JT65-HF HB9HQX all at the same time especially because if I want to have a quick QSY by Winlog32 there would be no need to disconnect Commander (by closing it) to connect Winlog32, QSY have a listen (or work the DX) and then disconnect Winlog32's CAT, reopen Commander and carry on with the digital modes.
Anyhow, are you sure you have no email in the spam box ? I'm sending you another one to the qrz.com email address.
Thanks a lot for your time Colin.

Nico

You have a very busy time in the shack, hi hi

No email for sure, but it could be wrong on QRZ, my email addresses changed last year, try the email icon on my posts here (top right) which is valid.

Just to finalise this old post

After working with Nico on this
A 'Commander' interface has been added to Winlog32, the interface only exists in the ICOM RCW#3
