QSL card printing

Post by g0rdp »

Does anyone know if it is possible to use QSL card printing to print QSL information on the back of cards.
I have got the design working but each log entry has to be selected and printed separately.
I want to be able to print a search/sorted batch of QSLs by loading the cards into the printer for bulk printing.

regards

David

QSL card printing

Post by G0CUZ »

Hi David

Unfortunately it is only possible to print QSL cards one at a time.

It will be extremely complex to batch print cards using the exiting function, but is something I will think about for the future.

QSL card printing

Thanks for reply Colin.

I can only guess at the problems involved from the software design.

This has become a wish for printing special event cards such as the BWBF weekend comming up shortly. It is relativley easy to set up a design to print the data into the cards supplied, but frustrating that I cannot load the full batch into the printer.

Finding WinLog super for the various special event calls our club uses.

QSL card printing

Hi David,

I use the BV7 software by DF3CB for the QSL printing. It is a freeware program. You have to export an ADIF file from Winlog32. Do some clicks in BV7 and the printing will be done automatically in a batch. At the first time it seems to be difficult but it works very fine afterwards.

Here is the link: http://www.df3cb.com/bv

QSL card printing

Post by g0rdp »

Hi Gerald

Thanks for the link.

I have installed BV7 - Designed the positions for data on the QSL card, and imported an ADI file for the log.

My problem seems to be with printer set up.

I set the parameters, paper size, etc. to use the rear tray of my Cannon printer loaded with the QSL cards.

When I ask BV7 to print the queue it comes back with "cannot print paper size from front cassette, set printer to use rear tray, load and print again".

My printer set up still tells me I have the correct configuration.

Scratching my head at the moment.

Hi David,

I am also using a Canon printer - model IP4200. Please tell me your settings in the BV7 printer setup, especially the setting for the paper feed. I always set it to manual selection on the front side of the printer. Perhaps you rprinter is setup for automatic tray selection. I have no problems with the rear tray as I am always using it.

QSL card printing

Hi Gerald.

My Cannon is the PIXMA iP4500
The print setup in BV7 is set to custom paper size, and rear tray.
The rear tray light is also selected on the Printer.

As soon as I try to print a card I get the report detailed last post.
If I set preview befor printing on the Cannon settings, BV7 innores this!.

It also plays games with the format, i.e. I have horizontal set and it prints vertical. Something is wrong in the BV7/Cannon communications.

I will keep trying, I think I will give it a rest (or me) for a day or two.
