DX CLUSTER (via DX-TELNET)

Post by G4ZNK »

Hi All

I had Winlog configured to DX-Telnet some time ago and it worked 100%.

Not having used it for some time I tried it recently and the log dosn't pick it up.

I have forgotten how I configured it in the first place so am unable to go through the process to make it work.

The brain fades as you get older.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi

To set-up DXTelNet with Winlog32 you need to enter parameters into DXTelNet.

In DXtelnet menu/configuration/LINKS "DDE link to a windows application"
set the following parameters

EXE NAME: "wl32"
LINKTOPIC: "frmDXCluster"
LINKITEM: "spotin"

enter them EXACTLY (case sensitive)

and 'SAVE'

This should be it.

If you are running a NT based system +2000/XP you may need the utility DDEDUP.exe I think this comes with DXtelnet.. But try above first.

Hi Colin

Thanks for the info re Cluster problems.

I have tried many times and carried out your and DXTELNET help instruction to the letter many times but still get no connection.

All the correct things happen when running the DDEDUP.exe and all the configs look ok.

I am running Windows XP Professional OS and Winlog works fine with no other problems.

Hi Roy
I tested Winlog/DXCluster with DXTelnet on Windows XP this afternoon and it works fine, you do need to run DDEDupe.exe and you MUST set the parameters in DDEDUPE AND DXTelNet-Config/Links to those explained in the DDEDupe.txt file (comes with DXTelnet).
The only other thing that springs to mind is that you must have Winlog32 v1.3 or greater to work with DXTelnet.

Hi Colin

Its me again.

Followed all instructions explicitly and still no go.

The DDEDUPE all sets up ok but after starting DXTELNET I open up Winlog32 and hosts etc are all ok but.
When trying to connect I just get the box come up which says "WAITING FOR DXTELNET".
But it does not connect even after going into OPTIONS and pressing the connect button.

I have a friend in Cornwall G0CAM who has exactly the same problem.

We are both running Winlog32 v 1.6 under XP Pro.

We shall keep on trying.

Hi again Roy

Is DXTelnet receiving cluster spots OK?

You must connect DXtelnet to an Internet DXCluster from DXtelnet, there is no option in Winlog32 that does it!

In fact you do not need to connect anything in WL32 as the link to DXTelnet is automatic once DXTN is connected to a cluster and Winlog32's DXCluster window is open.

Hi Colin

Yes DXTELNET is working perfectly and receiving all the spots inc. voice mode no problem.

I alays connect and run DXTELNET and then open Winlog32 and Cluster DB but it just sits there and says "WAITING FOR DXTELNET".

I cannot understand why it does not seem to connect, in the cluster OPTIONS it reads DISCONNECTED. Surely it should switch to connect but it dosn't.

Perplexed
