Logs vs Databases

I have recently started using Winlog32, and have put in all contacts for my current call. However, I have two former call signs, each with more than one location associated with it. They are all for the same DXCC entity, and I want to track DXCC results across all three calls in total. Should I have one database with multiple logs, or multiple logs? In other words, what is the best way to configure my logs and databases to handle all my historical activity and award tracking requirements?

Second question. I put in all contacts for my current call as my current location. This was an error since I had another location in a different grid square under the same call. Should I have different logs for the two locations under my current call, and if so how can I now split the log I have created?

Hi Steve

Best to have a separate Log for each callsign in a single log database, this will allow combined DXCC score across those logs, you chould also have 'Station Location' set-up for each Log.

Re: where you have mixed location QSOs, again you should add another log (not database) for those QSO IMO.

You can group and export QSO as long as they some common factor e.g. a date range for a location, export the results from the Search Page. Unfortunately there is no way to delete bulk QSO from your log, and that would have to done manually for each QSO

Having separate Logs and Station Locations makes working with LoTW simpler if you ever do this at a later stage and where you need separate locations for DXCC or other purposes.

You could also keep a 'Master' log with either separate database or within existing log database, where you may want to examine all QSO.

Thanks Colin. This seems to give me a viable way ahead. Sounds like I can export the QSOs from my current log in sections pertaining to different station locations, then re-import those sections back into independent logs within the same database, and finally delete the original log. I appreciate your help.
